Academic Position in Pediatric Pathology

The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology of the University of Minnesota seeks a full-time ABP board certified/eligible pediatric pathologist. Academic rank, compensation and appointment type will be based on qualifications and experience. Candidates must have demonstrated ability in teaching and in scholarly productivity. Minimum requirements are an M.D or equivalent degree, eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Minnesota, board certified or board eligible in pediatric pathology, completion of an ACGME-accredited pathology residency training and a pediatric pathology fellowship or significant experience in pediatric pathology.

This position will provide pediatric pathology service on our West Bank campus adjacent to the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. Sign-out responsibilities, autopsy service, resident supervision, and conferences are shared with other pediatric pathologists within the anatomic pathology faculty. Leadership opportunities in education, institutional biobanking and digital pathology exist for qualified candidates. Academic time will be used to pursue scholarly work in the candidate’s area of specialty/research expertise. Academic faculty will be active in their national organizations and foster an academic environment for medical students, residents and faculty. The position will have focused subspecialty sign-out with protected time to develop an investigational career, with a goal of developing collaborative or independent research.

The University of Minnesota is a large and diverse university and medical school with a large subspecialty practice plan of over 950 physicians, University of Minnesota Physicians. The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is home to a large number of anatomic and clinical pathology faculty as well as many basic science faculty involved in research, undergraduate and graduate education. The department also has an ACGME approved residency program and eight ACGME approved fellowships.
