Position: Academic Physicians in Pediatric Infectious Diseases

Salary Range:

  • Assistant Professor: $163,300 - $202,500 annually
  • Associate Professor: $191,400 - $239,600 annually
  • Professor: $251,800 - $344,000 annually

Our organization’s Department of Pediatrics, specifically the Section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, is looking for full-time faculty members across all academic ranks. The selected candidates will engage in patient care, medical education, and scholarly activities, which will encompass:

  • Clinical responsibilities in inpatient consultation and teaching services
  • Outpatient care
  • Mentoring and guiding trainees

The clinical role involves delivering consultative care for pediatric infectious diseases, managing both general and complex cases, and aiding in the formulation of clinical protocols. Some off-hours and occasional weekend duties will be required. The appointees will collaborate with various sections within the Department and across the broader University of Chicago Medicine system, which includes several inpatient and outpatient facilities. The primary clinical setting will be at Comer Children's Hospital, located in the Hyde Park area of Chicago, with potential responsibilities at other affiliated sites.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Teaching and supervising medical students and trainees
  • Engaging in scholarly activities

This section boasts a strong Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship program, along with a Med-Peds Infectious Diseases fellowship, providing further avenues for teaching, mentorship, and involvement in trainee education and career development. There are also opportunities to participate in clinical research, clinical trials, quality improvement projects, and other academic endeavors.

The successful candidates will become part of a dynamic and esteemed community of faculty and learners within UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago and its affiliates. Comer Children's Hospital serves as a comprehensive children's hospital and is the primary pediatric care facility within the University of Chicago Medicine system. The Department of Pediatrics consists of over 130 full-time faculty members, clinical associates, and postdoctoral researchers, dedicated to delivering exceptional, compassionate healthcare while nurturing the next generation of leaders in child health.

Before commencing employment, qualified candidates must:

  • Possess an MD or equivalent degree
  • Hold or be eligible for medical licensure in Illinois
