Job Description
Graduate student tutors engage with students in undergraduate courses. They promote critical thinking skills and empower students to learn course materials.
Job Location/ Hours Required
The candidate will perform most/all job duties in 4th floor of Smith Library. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; most graduate students work 5-8 hours per week. However, the maximum total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires up to 8 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
Provide assistance pertaining to technical issues related to course-related software
Work directly with students in the classroom on understanding and application of Adobe and other software
Two office hours maximum per week
Encourage and promote growth mindset techniques to improve attitudes and beliefs pertaining to the course and use of technology
Encourage and promote Growth Mindset techniques for creativity in coursework, assignments, and projects
Intricate knowledge and application of Adobe Creative Cloud Literacy, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop
Using software for facets of strategic communications
Required Qualifications:
Must be a current HPU student in good standing. Previous tutoring experience during undergraduate career is a plus, but not necessary for the position. Attendance at tutor training is optional for graduate student tutors and SI leaders.
Desired Skills:
Must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA
Must have a grade of A or A- in the course they are tutoring
Must be recommended by a professor in the discipline
