Join Doane University's Academic Success Center, where you can connect, collaborate, and elevate the student experience! As an Academic Support Specialist (Reading/Writing Emphasis), you will support student success with academic counseling and skills coaching for any Doane University student across campuses.
This position will teach courses on the Crete campus in reading/writing for no more than three classes per semester in the fall, and no more than 2 in the spring, depending on enrollment; assist with the Tiger Mentoring program (TPM) for all International and non-TRIO students who enroll; collaborate with the Academic Support Coordinator and the Executive Director of Academic Support Services on administrative duties for the TPM and Peer Tutoring program; collaborate with Advising and Community and Government Relations to meet the needs of International Students; collaborate with the ASC team to send out information on resources and events to the Doane community. Any other duties assigned by the Executive Director of Academic Support Services. This position will serve Doane students across all areas, with offices in Crete and at the Lincoln Fred Brown Center.

FLSA Salaried (Exempt) Salary Ten-month salary: $40,879 - $44,830 Minimum Required Qualifications
Requires a master's degree or equivalent experience plus at least one (1) year of experience in a postsecondary or advising environment, and experience in higher education academic support.
Degree Emphasis:
Bachelor's degree in Education or English;
Master's in English, Education, Sociology, Multicultural Studies, Administration, or Higher Education. Teaching reading/writing at the high school or college level will be considered.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills are a must
Organizational abilities
Ability to manage multiple duties, excellent interpersonal skills, consistent and appropriate communication skills, ability to work with data to inform decisions about student success and strategies to improve retention of all Doane University students.
