    Description

    The Academic Success Coach will provide a high-quality academic success coaching experience, designed to meet the needs of high achieving and at-risk students. This includes providing students with guidance and connecting students to services and resources to develop a personalized plan for student success. The Academic Success Coach will monitor and track student success and progress and record and report results via various student reporting systems, including Banner and Salesforce. Finally, will be expected to participate on committees, adhere to work standards, and perform other duties as assigned. In direct support of the University''s goal to improve its retention and graduation rates, the academic success coach will closely monitor student success outcomes as well as ensure maximum student appointment availability as well as design and provide success programming. To ensure the highest quality in the student coaching experience, the academic success coach will participate in ongoing training to continually improve their academic coaching skills and practices.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor's degree required
    • Minimum of 2 years' experience in at least one of the following areas: advising, teaching, coaching, counseling, social work, mentoring or related field

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:

    • Ability to implement personal, academic, and career development practices
    • Experience in Advising, Counseling, Social Work, Coaching, Mentoring, Teaching or related field preferred
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Great attention to detail
    • Sincere desire to assist students to succeed
    • Ability to motivate and inspire students
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • Ability to process and easily reference policies and regulations
    • Working knowledge of standard computer software such as office suite, email, etc. and ability to learn and utilize specific software necessary for academic advising practice is required
    • Ability to be seated for most of the work day

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Ability to work weekends or afterhours during special events
    • Demonstrated interest and/or knowledge in working with gifted or high achieving students
    • Desire for continuous improvement and learning of academic advising, coaching, and retention best practices
