QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a valid Alabama Teaching Certificate in Administration and Physical Education

Must have five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience.

Must have three (3) years of coaching experience and supervisory experience.

Must have knowledge of the driver's education program.

Must have knowledge of the health education program.

Must provide three (3) letters of professional references within the last three years (One from your current immediate supervisor; the other from other supervisors who are knowledgeable about your work experience and performance).

Must provide an official transcript for all degrees and administrative courses.

Must submit all qualifications/credentials by the established deadline.

DUTIES: The duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provides instructional leadership for physical education, health education, and driver's education.
  • Ensures curriculum aligns with the Alabama State Course of Study standards.
  • Develops program resources and monitor program implementation and effectiveness.
  • Assists schools in improving student-athlete academic achievement.
  • Promotes sportsmanship, integrity, and student-athlete development.
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive vision for district athletics programs.
  • Provides leadership to all school level athletic directors and coaches.
  • Coordinates district athletics programs to ensure consistency and equity among schools.
  • Oversees district athletic calendars, schedules, programs, and facilitir.
  • Coordinates postseason events and district athletic recognition programs.
  • Plans and delivers professional learning for teachers, coaches, and athletic directors.
  • Coordinates certification and required trainings.
  • Facilitates athletic director meetings and professional development.
  • Serves as liaison between schools and athletic governing organizations.
  • Ensures compliance with all district, state, and athletic association regulations.
  • Monitors athletic eligibility requirements.
  • Monitors the athletic insurance and physical examinations required for participation.
  • Monitors the insurance and contracts associated with driver's education.
  • Investigates athletic concerns and assist with conflict resolutions.
  • Coordinates emergency action plans for athletic events.
  • Directs the certification of all participants in all extra-curricular activities governed by the Alabama High School Athletic Association following the guidelines of the Alabama State Department and the Mobile County Public School System.
  • Directs participants in all athletic extra-curricular activities, including cheerleading.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors department budgets.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Duty Days 260

Salary Range: From/To Beginning pay - $70,449.00 Additional compensation for AA and DR.

Additional Job Information

Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.
