Duties and Responsibilities
- *Under supervision of Chancellor, collaborates across the campus with unit heads, staff, faculty, and lecturers to provide technical, analytical and instructional support on Hawaiian language and cultural knowledge, particularly as related to learning, education, and career pathways with an emphasis on values based decision-making and support.
- *Consult with cultural practitioners to research and create resources to aid in workshop, classroom and student support activities. Establish and maintain a record and archive of these materials.
- *In concert with Freshman Employment Initiative supervisor, Career & Transfer Counselor, and campus student employee supervisors, responsible for professional development of student employees.
- *Serve as a resource and conduct workshops for faculty and staff based on subject matter. Assist in development of lesson plans, materials, and activities for the delivery of Hawaiian knowledge based co-curricular materials and resources through the use of the Hawaiian language.
- Duties may require work during evening and weekend hours, and at off-campus locations.

Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Hawaiian Studies or Hawaiian Language, and 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for Hawaiian language or cultural based curricular and/or co-curricular materials and resources; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of traditional Hawaiian educational practices and career pathways, as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
- Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with educational programs and/or student learning.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
- For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in curriculum development in Hawaiian Studies or Hawaiian language coursework, or related fields.
- Hawaiian language conversational proficiency.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising student employees.
- Knowledge and/or fluency in specific Hawaiian language terms related to careers and career related values and concepts.
- Experience in education planning, program development, and evaluation.
- Experience working with Hawaiian community organizations and non-profit groups.
