    The Academic System Analyst serves as a functional partner to academic and administrative departments, supporting the administration, configuration, implementation, and continuous improvement of Arts & Sciences and enterprise applications. Reporting to the Associate Director of Academic Technology & Systems, this position provides functional systems support, business analysis, project implementation, and user engagement to help deliver reliable, user-centered technology services across Arts & Sciences.

    The Academic Systems Analyst supports a portfolio of applications and initiatives, balancing day-to-day operational support with project work, testing, documentation, reporting support, and process improvement.

    Description Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp Bachelors plus 2-3 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

    • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
    • 2+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications, student information systems, or other complex business systems.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze business processes and translate operational needs into technology solutions.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities while providing exceptional customer service.
    • Experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholder groups.
    • Experience in higher education or a similarly complex organizational environment is preferred.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience supporting higher education enterprise applications such as StarRez, Ellucian Banner Student Information System, Ellucian Advise, Ellucian Experience, or similar student information and campus management systems.
    • Experience configuring, administering, or supporting SaaS enterprise applications.
    • Experience with business process analysis, workflow automation, and system integrations.
    • Familiarity with reporting and analytics tools, SQL, or data visualization platforms.
    • Experience supporting cross-functional projects in a higher education environment.

    Functional Systems Support and Administration

    • Provides functional administration and ongoing support for academic and administrative technology systems.
    • Maintains system configuration, business rules, workflows, forms, security, and functional settings.
    • Troubleshoots functional issues and partners with technical teams to resolve application problems.
    • Supports system upgrades, releases, testing, and implementation of new functionality.
    • Maintains documentation, configuration records, and operational procedures.

    Project Support and Implementation

    • Participates in cross-functional technology projects from planning through implementation.
    • Supports discovery sessions, functional design, configuration, testing, training, and deployment activities.
    • Develops test plans, coordinates user acceptance testing, and validates system functionality.
    • Assists with project documentation, issue tracking, and implementation planning.
    • Supports organizational readiness and adoption of new technologies and processes.

    Data and Reporting Support

    • Partners with reporting and analytics staff to define business requirements for reports, dashboards, and data needs.
    • Assists in validating data quality and ensuring consistency across supported systems.
    • Supports data governance efforts by documenting business definitions, processes, and data dependencies.
    • Helps identify reporting opportunities that improve operational decision making.

    Business Analysis and Process Improvement

    • Partners with functional departments to understand operational needs and business processes.
    • Facilitates requirements gathering, workflow analysis, and process mapping.
    • Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, configuration changes, or redesigned business processes.
    • Recommends scalable technology solutions that align with institutional standards and best practices.
    • Assists departments in evaluating the impact of proposed process or policy changes.

    Stakeholder Partnership and Customer Service

    • Develops collaborative relationships with academic and administrative partners.
    • Provides functional consultation, guidance, and day-to-day support for supported systems.
    • Delivers user training and develops documentation to improve system adoption and effectiveness.
    • Communicates system changes, enhancements, and known issues to stakeholders.
    • Serves as a trusted resource for departments seeking to improve operational processes through technology.
