Provide real-time Acateco (Jakaltek) English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and asylum proceedings.
Interpret accurately, impartially, and with cultural sensitivity in immigration and legal contexts.
Follow USCIS/DHS interpreter ethics and confidentiality standards.
Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation requests.
Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.
Qualifications
Native or near-native fluency in Acateco (Jakaltek) and English.
2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, community, NGO, or government preferred).
Strong cultural knowledge of Guatemalan Mayan communities.
Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and impartiality standards.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
