    COMPANY DESCRIPTION: The City of Fort Worth's Office of the Police Oversight Monitor (OPOM) promotes accountability, transparency, and public trust through independent civilian oversight of the Fort Worth Police Department.

    ROLE DESCRIPTION: The Fall 2026 Internship Program provides students and recent graduates with hands-on experience in civilian police oversight, where law, policy, data analysis, auditing, and community engagement intersect to strengthen public accountability.

    Interns will gain practical experience supporting the Office's mission through meaningful projects and

    \n

    day-to-day operations. Intern responsibilities may include:

    \n


    \n

    • Assisting with complaint intake and case management

    \n

    • Reviewing investigative files and preparing objective case summaries

    \n

    • Conducting policy research and analysis

    \n

    • Supporting audits and quality assurance initiatives

    \n

    • Assisting with data collection, analysis, and reporting

    \n

    • Contributing to special projects that support oversight, accountability, and community engagement initiatives

    \n


    \n

    This internship offers the opportunity to strengthen professional writing, analytical, research, and critical thinking skills while gaining a deeper understanding of civilian oversight and public service.

    \n


    \n

    PROGRAM DETAILS

    \n

    • Application Period: August 10 – August 31, 2026

    \n

    • Term: September 29 – December 18, 2026

    \n

    • Hours: Minimum commitment of 12–15 hours per week (flexible scheduling available)

    \n

    • Compensation: Unpaid (dual-credit or course-credit eligible, where applicable)

    \n


    \n

    IDEAL CANDIDATES: We welcome undergraduate, graduate, and law students, as well as recent graduates, who demonstrate:

    \n

    • Strong writing, analytical, and research skills

    \n

    • Attention to detail and sound judgment

    \n

    • Professionalism, discretion, and a willingness to learn

    \n

    • An interest in public policy, law, criminal justice, civil rights, public administration, data analysis, or community engagement

    \n
