Job Summary:
The Accessible Technology Coordinator provides college-wide support for digital accessibility, assistive technologies, and accessible practices to promote equitable access for students, employees, and the broader college community. Supports efforts related to ADA Title II, Section 504, Section 508, and current Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) through direct student support, accessibility consultations, review of instructional and college materials, and practical guidance to departments on reducing digital barriers.
Essential Duties:
30%| Assists faculty in creating accessible instructional materials, including documents, PDFs, presentations, multimedia, and Canvas course content.
Provides consultation on accessible instructional practices, accessible course design, and approaches to improving instructional access for students.
Collaborates with the Center for Teaching Excellence, Library/Learning Center, Student Tech Support, Tech Lounge, Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator, and Classroom Support to partner on accessible instructional practices, faculty resource development, and coordinated training efforts.
Promotes proactive, inclusive design approaches, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to improve access and reduce the need for individual accommodations.
25% | Advances college efforts related to digital accessibility by assisting in identifying barriers, supporting remediation priorities, and implementing established accessibility standards and practices related to ADA Title II, Section 504, Section 508 and current WCAG standards. Make recommendations to the Director regarding regulatory compliance changes.
Collaborates across instructional, student services, administrative, and business areas to help advance accessible digital practices.
20% | Participates in review of instructional technologies, LTIs, digital publisher-provided materials, software tools, and digital learning platforms.
Reviews accessibility documentation such as Voluntary Accessible Product Template (VPAT) and Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR) and assists departments in understanding accessibility related to software evaluation, implementation and procurement.
Serves as a member of the Academic Technology Committee and collaborates with Information Services regarding accessibility concerns.
15% | Provides direct support to students using assistive technologies and accommodations tools, including screen readers, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, magnification, note-taking tools, and other technologies.
Troubleshoots digital access barriers experienced by students in coursework, instructional materials, and college systems.
Assists students in learning effective use of accommodations-related technologies in their college environment.
Oversees alternative format production process, including preparation, conversion, remediation, quality review, and distribution of accessible instructional materials in accordance with individualized accommodation needs and accessibility standards.
10% | Develops and delivers training, guides and resources connected to assistive technology, digital accessibility, and accessible content creation for faculty, staff and students.
May coordinate media support, technology allocation, and support activities as needed and assigned.
Assists with coordinating college wide accessibility initiatives or projects.

Education and Experience
Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Special Education, Disability Services, Educational Technology, Computer Technology, Human Services, Communications, or related field; and one year of full-time experience supporting students, faculty, or employees in assistive technology, accessibility, instructional support, educational technology, or related areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that enables full performance of all aspects of the position.
Expected to obtain Certification as an Accessible Document Specialist (ADS) within 6 months of hire.
Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) qualifies as two years of experience supporting students, faculty, or employees in assistive technology.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and Skills: Requires knowledge of how assistive technology is utilized and matched to support individuals with disabilities in alignment with digital accessibility standards, including ADA Title II, Section 504, Section 508, and WCAG. Requires working knowledge of current ADA Title II requirements with the ability to apply accessibility standards in practical ways across college systems, services, and digital resources. Must have knowledge of accessible document design, alternative format preparation, and accessibility considerations associated with instructional technologies and platforms, including accessibility related features and considerations within Canvas or similar digital instructional environments. Requires the ability to stay current with evolving trends, laws, and guidelines related to accessible technology and digital accessibility, and apply knowledge in a meaningful and usable way across the college.
Requires skill in providing technical support and instruction related to assistive technology and accessible digital practices. Must be skilled in reviewing and improving accessibility of documents, presentations, PDFs, forms, and digital materials. Requires the ability to communicate technical information clearly to individuals with varying levels of technical knowledge. Requires working knowledge of HTML, document structure, and underlying concepts that improve digital accessibility. Must have working familiarity with common accessibility tools, such as PDF remediation software, captioning tools, and automated accessibility checkers.
Abilities: Must be able to identify accessibility barriers and recommend solutions across varied college environments. Requires the ability to interpret accessibility guidance and technical documentation, including VPATs/ACRs, to inform accessibility related decisions.

Information Regarding the Salary Placement Process:
According to the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between LBCC and the Independent Association of Classified Employees (IACE), all Classified employees begin at Step 1 of the salary schedule, corresponding to the position's grade. Placement at a higher step on the schedule is not negotiable, except by mutual written agreement of Association leadership and LBCC Human Resources. These exceptions are uncommon, and only granted in limited circumstances.
The Accessible Technology Coordinator position is graded as a Grade 18. Step 1 on the Classified salary schedule for this grade is $56,078 for a 247-day for the 2026-27 Fiscal Year. Progression on the salary schedule is subject to the terms and conditions laid out in the IACE Collective Bargaining Agreement.
