At UES, we’re a team of more than 4,000 engineers, scientists, geologists, inspectors, technicians, and drillers united by a shared purpose—to make a meaningful impact in the communities we serve. As a national leader in geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, and materials testing and inspection, we collaborate on transformative projects across transportation, energy, water, healthcare, and more. Learn more about the benefits of joining Team UES and our core values at careers.teamues.com.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and relationship-driven Account Executive to develop and grow partnerships with major EPC, engineering, construction, and owner clients based in the Kansas City market.

In this role, you will focus on expanding national accounts within the power and energy sector. Working with UES’s national account team and regional offices, you will identify opportunities, support key pursuits, and connect clients with technical capabilities across multiple regions and service lines—delivering national impact while remaining locally based with limited overnight travel (approximately 10%). This role is ideal for an experienced BD professional with proven ability navigating complex organizations, building trust at multiple levels, and turning client relationships into long-term growth.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to take ownership of key national relationships, influence high-impact energy projects, and help shape UES’s continued growth in the power sector, we’d like to hear from you!

Must be located within a commutable distance to Overland Park, KS, as relocation is not offered.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and manage relationships across power sector clients, including executives, operations leaders, preconstruction teams, procurement, and project stakeholders
  • Identify and track upcoming projects, positioning UES early in the project lifecycle to influence scope and engagement strategy
  • Develop and maintain strategic account plans, including key contacts, organizational insight, active pursuits, and growth opportunities
  • Support and help shapeproposals, presentations, and client pursuits for complex energy and infrastructure projects
  • Partner with internal teams to coordinate scope, pricing strategy, and technical alignment across regions and service lines
  • Navigate large client organizations to identify decision-makers, influencers, and internal champions
  • Maintain momentum across active opportunities through consistent follow-up, coordination, and client engagement
  • Provide insight into client priorities, pipeline activity, and competitive positioning to support growth strategy
  • Expand existing relationships by increasing UES visibility across multiple offices, projects, and service offerings

Job Responsibilities Note:

The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified. UES retains the right to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Finance, Statistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of prior sales and business development experience, preferably in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required; relevant industry certifications preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
  • Strong relationship-building, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in basic math and data analysis to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Solid understanding of the construction industry and related regulatory environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5–10+ years of business development, account management, sales, client development, or operational leadership experience in the AEC, engineering, construction, EPC, infrastructure, industrial, power, or environmental consulting sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience calling on or working with firms such as Kiewit, Burns & McDonnell, JE Dunn, Black & Veatch, or similar national organizations is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, special inspections, environmental consulting, building envelope, geophysics, or related professional services is preferred.
  • Strong listening skills with the ability to ask thoughtful questions, understand client challenges, and position UES as a strategic partner rather than a transactional vendor.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
  • This position primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods while using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment.
  • The position involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and engaging in frequent communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
  • The role involves regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and through virtual platforms.
  • The physical demands of the job may include occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds.
Travel Requirements:
  • This position requires limited overnight travel, approximately up to 10% of the time, in support of business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work.
