Job Summary

The Account Lead, Speaker Bureau position encompasses the implementation, management, and oversight of the operations of and activities of client Speaker Bureau(s) to design and execute successful pharmaceutical educational programs. Additionally, the Account Lead will collaborate with cross-functional teams internally and externally to foster and manage effective relationships in order to meet and exceed client needs. Technical proficiency, problem-solving skills, and strong people-management experience is essential for this position.

Job Responsibilities and Skills

  • Engage directly with the client contacts and sales management to provide strategic direction and oversee and manage project budgets, timelines, team, and promptly address and resolve client concerns.
  • Serve as the â€go-to†resource for departmental matters, including proactively troubleshooting in a manner consistent with the companyâ€s goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain budgets and SOWs for assigned client(s).
  • Monitor overall and monthly program budget to ensure successful completion and escalate any variances in a timely manner.
  • Manage monthly revenue forecasting.
  • Manage day-to-day client requests, including proper dissemination of information and tasks to appropriate team members and progress reports to the client.
  • Analyze data and develop reports to support client and internal management teams.
  • Liaise with Compliance and Account teams to ensure proper guidelines and overall client strategic imperatives are followed.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to the Speaker Bureau Director on project status.
  • Manage and own weekly status agendas and lead weekly client calls and ad-hoc client meetings, serve as the main point of client contact for items related to Speaker Bureau.
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings.
  • Supervise, train, and coach Speaker Bureau Team Lead(s) and oversee overall Speaker Bureau Team workload and performance.
  • Assist in interviewing new staff members; may train as needed.
  • Understand and educate staff on PhRMA Code, AdvaMed Code, and OIG guidelines.
  • Travel to client meetings as necessary.

  • This role of Account Lead, Speaker Bureau requires exceptional listening skills and the ability to relate to a wide variety of senior pharmaceutical marketing staff, sales teams, and healthcare providers and to understand their needs. The successful candidate must have the demonstrated ability to gain and enhance the respect and trust of superiors, peers, subordinates, clients and the clinical experts with whom they interact. They must be confident and self-aware, possessing the highest professional standards and personal and professional integrity. They will always maintain a strictly professional relationship with all clients and their representatives, independent contractors and consultants, faculty, key opinion leaders, advisory board members or anyone else paid to participate in, consult with or perform services for or on behalf of WHC or its clients.
  • The Account Lead, Speaker Bureau will directly supervise employees across multiple clients. This person will present a high sense of urgency and a strong need and desire to get into the detail. The successful candidate will be a passionate dynamic person by nature and approach challenges with a solutions orientation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Travel: Travel within the US will be required for this position, including weekend travel, up to 10%
  • Location: New York, NY or remote
  • Bachelorâ€s Degree required with 3+ years of relevant experience, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 3 yearâ€s experience supervising staff.
  • Knowledge of Speakers Bureau, HCP Program, and Patient Program event management in live and virtual settings is required.
  • Proven ability to interpret data, trends, and provide strategic insights to clients.
  • Proven success working directly with pharmaceutical and medical device clients, including written communications, status meeting management, delivery of critical messaging, and sharing industry best practices
  • Reference from one client contact.
  • Must be extremely organized and possess superior attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Able to see long-term assignments through to completion.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technology applications.
  • Experience onboarding new client accounts.
  • Display an in-depth knowledge of meeting planning, contract negotiation and fiscally responsible meeting spend
  • Strong administrative and computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
