Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Account Manager – Employee Benefits to join a growing team in either Cedar Rapids, IA or Des Moines, IA. In this role, you'll serve as a trusted advisor to clients, managing a portfolio of fully insured employee benefits accounts while collaborating with internal teams and carrier partners to deliver proactive, personalized service. Full-time employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes:Annual performance bonusMedical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance401(k) with company contributionsResponsible Time Off (RTO), including flexible paid time off and 11 paid holidaysPaid volunteer time and charitable donation matchingTuition reimbursement and support for professional certifications and licensingEmployee Assistance Program (EAP) and wellness program with financial incentivesHybrid work scheduleEmployee referral bonus programKey Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of fully insured employee benefits accounts while delivering proactive, high-quality client service.Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, producers, insurance carriers, and internal service teams.Respond to client inquiries regarding employee benefit plans, policies, renewals, eligibility, and coverage.Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, carrier representatives, and internal business partners.Maintain accurate policy records, renewals, documentation, and account activity within agency management systems.Coordinate with internal departments, including Claims, Legal, Marketing, Safety, Technology, and Operations, to provide comprehensive client solutions.Assist with the marketing, placement, renewal, and implementation of new and existing employee benefits programs.Prepare materials and participate in recurring client meetings, renewals, and strategic planning sessions.Stay informed on industry trends, compliance requirements, carrier updates, and emerging employee benefits solutions.Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen client relationships, and enhance the overall customer experience.Travel periodically to client locations, carrier meetings, and regional offices as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required.Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.Experience managing a book of Employee Benefits accounts is required.Active Life & Health Insurance License required.Previous customer service or account management experience.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Experience using an agency management system or CRM preferred; EPIC experience is highly desirable.Preferred Skills Strong knowledge of fully insured employee benefits products and client service best practices.Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.Professional, trustworthy, and committed to maintaining confidentiality.Adaptable and resilient in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.Self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability and a passion for delivering outstanding client service.What Success Looks Like Successful Account Managers build lasting client relationships through responsive communication, proactive problem-solving, and exceptional service.
