Account Payable Specialist

This is a full-time, on-site position at our Champaign, IL. location. Working hours are Monday-Friday between 8am-5pm.

Typical pay for this position is $18-$22 an hour. The final offer for this position will be based on the unique experience and qualifications of the candidate selected. This position may also be eligible for a bonus not included in the base pay range.

The Accounts Payable Clerk role requires a detail-oriented individual who is comfortable working with numbers and managing high-volume invoice processing. This position is responsible for the daily processing of inventory invoices, including matching invoices to receiving documents, investigating quantity and pricing discrepancies, and entering invoices into the payable ledger for payment processing. The Accounts Payable Clerk will work closely with Warehouse Receiving, Purchasing, and Horizon vendors to research and resolve discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Matching of vendor invoices to correct receiving documents
• Daily monitoring of AP inbox for invoices and vendor inquiries
• Processing vendor credits for merchandise returned to vendors
• Contact vendors to request copies of any missing invoices or credits
• Accurate invoice processing and timely payment by discount due dates
• Ensuring all credits are received and applied within 30 days of the return
• Work collaboratively with vendors to resolve any outstanding invoice issues
• Working closely with receiving departments to determine accurate invoice totals
• Investigate and resolve quantity discrepancies between receiving documents and vendor invoices
• Perform additional accounting and or clerical duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting, data processing, or invoice processing experience

Preferred

• Positive attitude with a strong work ethic
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Proficient in the use of calculators and adding machines
• Proficient in spreadsheet applications and general computer skills
• Customer service oriented with a commitment to providing excellent support

While prior accounting experience is not required, a basic understanding of accounting terminology and principles is preferred

Physical Requirements

• Occasional lifting of office supplies and materials, up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on a computer.
