Dean's Professional Services is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Account Representative to support a leading healthcare organization in Houston, TX. This is an excellent opportunity for a revenue cycle professional with medical collections experience who is skilled in account resolution, reimbursement analysis, and payer follow-up.
Responsibilities
Initiate calls and online payer/guarantor contacts to verify receipt of claims or statements and collect outstanding accounts receivable in accordance with current collection policies and procedures.
Document follow-up activities, payer/guarantor conversations, online communications, information obtained, and correspondence in account notes.
Review third-party payments to ensure accurate reimbursement and proper application of contractual discounts and allowances according to contract terms or government reimbursement rates.
Resolve accounts associated with payer and guarantor relationships.
Analyze accounts for outstanding balances and determine appropriate actions needed to resolve them.
Identify and report inaccurate reimbursement and contractual trends to Senior Representatives, Team Leads, or Managers.
Escalate problem accounts to the appropriate Senior Representative, Team Lead, or Manager before accounts reach 60 days old, including detailed documentation and recommendations for resolution.
Maintain consistent follow-up on referred accounts until resolution.
Assist with special projects to support collection, workqueue, and departmental goals.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum 2 years of revenue cycle experience required.
Medical collections experience required.
Knowledge of government, commercial, and managed care reimbursement methodologies.
Understanding of federal, state, and local regulations related to collections.
Knowledge of managed care plans, insurance coverage, and benefits requirements.
Strong mathematical aptitude with the ability to verify reimbursement based on contracts, benefits, and government regulations.
Strong critical-thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with professional interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Professional claims experience preferred.
Epic experience preferred.
Government payer experience preferred but not required if commercial payer experience is strong.
Experience with professional claims, denials management, and collections.
Technical proficiency with payer portals, soft phones, e-fax systems, and other healthcare revenue cycle tools.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
Strong time-management and organizational skills.
