    Job Description:

    Job Summary: 
    The Account Specialist is responsible for the accurate processing of scholarship payments to student accounts, due diligence process of student accounts and reporting of accounts to collection agency, processing of 1098-Ts, serving as back up for student refund process, and processing Banner to bookstore file for student charge outs.  Correctly applies accounting principles according to GAAP, Governmental Accounting Standards, applicable state and federal guidelines and TCSG fiscal policies and procedures.

    Essential Functions:

    Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

    •    Prepares write off file from Banner to send to State Accounting Office for approval and processes write off in Banner once approval is received (10%)
    •    Processes file to collection agency for all student accounts (5%)
    •    Manages process to move file from Banner to Bookstore for student aid charge outs each semester (7%)
    •    Completes student 1098-T process in Banner (10%)
    •    Performs quarterly petty cash audits (10%)
    •    Accurately analyzes Banner information to process scholarship payments to student accounts (40%)
    •    Analyzes reports from Banner system to monitor and maintain records of student due diligence (15%)
    •    Other duties as assigned (3%)

    Work Environment:

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and technologies. 

    Physical Demands:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds. 

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are flexible. 

    Travel:
    Travel to other campus locations and for training is required on occasion.  
    Required Education and Experience:
    •    An Associate Degree in Accounting or similar field of study from an accredited institution.
    •    Minimum of three (3) years of experience in accounting.

    Preferred Education and Experience
    •    Accounts Receivable experience.
    •    State of GA accounting experience.
    •    Experience with Workday and Banner.
    •    Excel experience.
