Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting and two years of accounting experience; OR Bachelors degree to include 9 semester credits in Accounting and two years of accounting experience; OR four years of additional accounting work experience and two years of college coursework are required.

Recruitment Notes

Reporting directly to the Assistant Controller, this position is responsible for performing advanced professional and supervisory accounting work involving the application of established accounting principles, practices, and methodologies. The role oversees the preparation, maintenance, analysis, and control of financial records, with a primary focus on the Aviation Department's fixed asset activities. The incumbent will lead and manage the daily operations of the Department's Fixed Asset Section, including supervising professional and clerical staff, coordinating the annual physical inventory process, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This position requires the exercise of considerable independent judgment, leadership, and expertise in accounting principles to support the Department's financial management objectives.

Airport Security

Applicants qualifying for employment with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department will be subject to extensive security screening, including but not limited to fingerprint checks, employment verification, and other such procedures as may be mandated by federal law. The security clearance required by federal law is a continuing condition of employment.
