TRSL is seeking an experienced, motivated Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead all accounting activities for the Louisiana Teachers' Retirement System with a cooperative, innovative, and customer‑oriented mindset.ResponsibilitiesDirect all accounting activities for the retirement system, including preparation and review of ACFR, PAFR, and related general ledger/pension fund functions.Direct and oversee all financial statements, reporting, policies, and planning for the Accounting department, including budget development and the Employer Pension Report required by GASB 68.Manage retiree payroll disbursements, delivering monthly pension payments, DROP payments, IRS and NACHA compliance, and issuance of 1099s.Oversee investment accounting and operations for all financial functions related to investment assets, including public and private market investments.Review and approve duties, responsibilities, and goals of subordinate staff.QualificationsMinimum of 8 years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking (or equivalent) at the supervisory level or above.Or 6 years full‑time experience in any field plus 24 semester hours in accounting and 5 years experience in accounting or related field.Or a bachelor's degree with 24 semester hours in accounting plus 5 years experience in accounting or related field.Or a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics plus 5 years experience in accounting or related field.Or an advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics plus 4 years experience in accounting or related field.Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license plus 3 years experience in accounting or related field.Experience substitution: each 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college equals one year of experience, up to a maximum of 120 semester hours (four years).BenefitsDefined benefit pension plan.Health insurance available post‑retirement.At least 10 paid holidays, sick leave, and annual leave that roll over and accrue with years of service.Deferred compensation plan and flexible benefits plan.Alternate work schedules and other employee assistance programs.Professional development opportunities and recognition.All prospective new hires will be subject to employment eligibility verification via the federal government's E‑Verify system.
