Position Summary
Penda Aiken inc. is a staffing firm located in Brooklyn New York. Our client is a New York State Agency and is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant professional to join the Office of Healthcare Workforce Innovation. These roles focus on the financial oversight and monitoring of healthcare workforce initiatives. The successful candidates will be responsible for grant administration, financial document review, and the development of robust data-tracking systems.

Primary Responsibilities
Financial Monitoring: Review and process vouchers from grant recipients for accuracy and budget alignment using computerized financial systems.
Budget Analysis: Analyze "budget vs. actual" spending data to identify and report variances.
Data Management: Develop and maintain tracking systems for materials received from external agencies; perform data entry and quality control.
Reporting: Extract, analyze, and summarize database information; format professional documents using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Legislative Support: Assist in tracking proposed legislative bills and regulations related to healthcare workforce policy.
Administrative Oversight: Monitor shared email accounts, draft professional correspondence, and assist in planning large-scale meetings and events.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, or a closely related field.
Experience: At least two (2) years of experience working in a professional office setting.
Technical Skills: Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and the ability to work effectively with electronic databases.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to conduct thorough online research and summarize findings.
Workflow: Proven ability to manage multiple shifting priorities in a high-pressure environment.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with the NYS Statewide Financial System (SFS) and NYS fiscal regulations.
Experience with healthcare administration, workforce development programs, or grant administration.
Proficiency in Microsoft Access (data entry and query extraction).
Experience in customer service, including technical support via phone and email.
Prior experience working within a New York State agency.
