Description
Payroll AccountantPosition Location: Baltimore, MDSchedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:00pmSalary: $65,000 - $75,000 annuallyJoin the Chimes team and help make an impact through accurate financial stewardship.What You'll DoAs our Payroll Accountant, you will:
Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries.
Review payroll taxes and ensure timely and accurate tax payments.
Review federal and state payroll tax filings for accuracy and compliance.
Post payroll activity to the general ledger.
Reconcile payroll bank accounts and assigned general ledger accounts.
Prepare payroll accruals and month-end journal entries.
Assist with month-end close activities and financial reporting.
Perform payroll-related variance analysis.
Support internal and external audits.
Process state unemployment payments for multiple entities.
Assist with other accounting and finance projects as needed.
What You'll BringEducation
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.
Nonprofit accounting experience is preferred.
Skills & Qualifications
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and payroll accounting.
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills with advanced Excel proficiency.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines, especially during month-end close.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
