Staff Accountant

Johnson Management is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Baton Rouge team.

Summary: The successful candidate must have a degree in Accounting. This role will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial data in an accurate and timely manner, in addition to other duties. Must have expert knowledge working with QuickBooks, processing accounts payables and receivables, disbursements and expense vouchers. Other daily responsibilities include keeping financial records updated, preparing reports and completing monthly reconciliation. This is an on-site report directly to the Chief Accountant.

Responsibilities:

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions.
  • Analyze and review budget and expenditures for local, state, federal, and private funding, contracts, and grants.
  • Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and review budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents.
  • Analyze and revenue and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budget levels, and ensure expenditure control.
  • Resolve accounting and billing discrepancies with staff, vendors and clients.
  • Maintain financial databases, software systems and manual filing systems.
  • Interact with internal and external auditors.
  • All other duties as assigned by Chief Accountant and CEO.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting with at least 2-3 years experience
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
