Accountant

Summary

Prepares and maintains accuracy of accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to procedural standards. Provides management with accurate information in the areas of cost, budgets, payroll, and forecasting in an efficient manner. At this level, tasks and assignments tend to be routine, general in nature and duties are performed under general supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
• Provides record of assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions.
• Assists in inventory analysis and other general cost accounting requirements.
• Supports preparation of balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for managers.
• Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
• Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
• Serves as back-up for other accounting duties.
• Supports the preparation of year-end audit files and analysis.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in a related field and 2-5 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
