Job Responsibilities

The Accountant/Fiscal Analyst II processes student and sponsorship billing, prepares journal entries, and ensures timely student refunds. The role serves as a point of contact for students with questions and supports the Business Office during monthly, quarterly, and annual closes, as well as audit preparation. Accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with policies are essential to the position. This is an in-person position located at the Cheraw Campus.

Job Responsibilities of the Accounts Receivable Analyst II:

  • Responds to student and third-party inquiries related to accounts receivable through phone, in-person, and email to address concerns and ensure account accuracy. Handle confidential information with tact and discretion in accordance with FERPA guidelines. Prepare and enter approved journal entries into the accounting system. Submit bad debt information to the SC Setoff Debt Program and collection agency.
  • Processes and maintain sponsor accounts, ensuring accurate account setup and updates. Prepare and verify invoices for sponsor accounts, including institutional billings for the NETC Foundation and various sponsorships. Conduct monthly follow-ups to ensure timely collections and proactively address any delinquent accounts as directed by the Accounting Manager.
  • Processes student account transactions, including payments, charges, and adjustments, in compliance with institutional policies. Apply grant and scholarship awards to student accounts, ensuring proper allocation of funds. Prepare invoices for student accounts as necessary, maintaining accuracy and adherence to billing standards. Process student refunds in accordance with the established refund schedule to ensure timely disbursement. Serve as a point of contact for students regarding billing questions and refund inquiries, including coordination with the college's refund processing bank.
  • Gathers, scans, and maintains monthly bank statements to ensure complete and accurate records for audit and retention. Assist with gathering and preparing data for monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports for management review. Support auditor inquiries as necessary and validate the accuracy of data extracted from the accounting system. Maintain paper and electronic records to support audit and retention requirements. Collaborate with the financial aid department to help ensure accuracy of student account transactions. Adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and policies throughout all financial processes.
  • Performs other duties assigned to drive to the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of this organization.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and professional experience in a related area such as accounting, auditing, finance or commercial lending. Must have a valid drivers license. NETC Preferred Requirements: A bachelors degree plus 15 semester hours in accounting related courses plus two (2) years accounting experience; or, an associate degree with accounting related courses plus four (4) years accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Exceptional recordkeeping and organizational skills in order to interpret and analyze transactions in specific accounts and ensure student and sponsor accounts are accurate. Ability to become proficient and work independently in several highly automated, integrated systems in order to record and process transactions (must already have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite). Ability to discuss specific problems arising from the examination of student records. Ability to communicate effectively with students and sponsors to resolve complex problems.

Additional Comments

General supervision provided by the Accounting Manager. Must be able to lift and carry files, books, and reports weighing up to 25 lbs. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for intermittent periods of time. Must be able to reach, bend and twist at the waist to perform filing, desk work, and operate general office equipment. Minimal overnight travel may be required. Must attend mandatory college events as scheduled.
