Accountant

Cutting Edge Recruiting Solutions (CERS) has a need for accounting professionals for our client in the public accounting industry. The Staff Accountant performs various technical accounting functions and analytical reviews for a designated accounting area. This position also helps the business unit achieve goals, anticipate needs, and resolve problems.

Job responsibilities:

• Support Month end and year end closing process
• Prepare individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns.
• Review financial statements for accuracy and completeness
• Review client data and prepare journal entries.
• Develop strong working relationships including client management and personnel.
• Explain unusual trends in financial statements
• Analyze balance sheet accounts and prepare reconciliations
• Responsible for all aspects of tax from reporting, filing, registering, and performing nexus studies
• Maintains accounting controls by following policies and procedures, complying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements
• Assist with forecasting and budgeting
• Recommend ways to reduce cost or improve processes
• Document workflow and work procedures
• Maintain up-to-date accounting guidelines, research guidelines, and read professional publications
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

• 2+ years of accounting experience.
• Experience in QuickBooks required
• Advanced skills in MS Excel required.
• Auditing/public accounting experience a plus but not required.
• Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge.
• Experience preparing 1040, 1120, 1065 5471, 5472, FBAR and other tax forms is a plus

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree required, with a concentration in Business, Accounting or Finance; CPA / CMA a plus.
