Accountant/FP&A
Work Location: On-site
Salary Range: $75,000–$110,000 annually
We are looking for an experienced Accountant/FP&A professional to support general accounting operations, financial planning and analysis, and costing activities. This position requires someone who has worked in a high-volume accounting environment and has processed, reviewed, or reconciled thousands of financial transactions.
The successful candidate will have excellent analytical skills, a thorough knowledge of accounting principles, and the ability to create, maintain, and analyze financial reports, forecasts, and complex financial models. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex financial models, PivotTables, Power Query, INDEX-MATCH, XLOOKUP, nested IF statements, and other advanced formulas are preferred. At least three years of relevant experience is required, and experience within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Responsibilities
Transactional Accounting
- **Perform transactional accounting activities, including general ledger postings, accounts payable, account reconciliations, and cost allocations. **
- **Process and verify a high volume of financial transactions. **
- **Analyze and reconcile expense and revenue accounts to ensure accuracy. **
- **Assist with all tasks associated with the monthly accounting and closing cycle. **
- **Identify errors and recommend ways to improve efficiency, accuracy, and spending. **
- **Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). **
Financial Planning and Analysis
- **Participate in forecasting, budgeting, and financial-planning activities. **
- **Prepare, maintain, and analyze financial models, forecasts, and performance reports. **
- **Perform periodic operational-metrics analysis and KPI tracking. **
- **Perform inventory variance analysis and inventory-value calculations. **
- **Conduct deep-dive reviews of profit and cost centers, highlighting key drivers, trends, and unusual activity. **
- **Identify the root causes of financial variances and work with the appropriate departments to resolve issues. **
- **Analyze margin variances, key operating statistics, price-and-volume variances, and monthly operating results. **
- **Organize and analyze large amounts of financial data and clearly present the results. **
- **Work cross-functionally with company departments on reporting and financial-analysis requirements. **
Costing
- **Support cost-accounting and reporting requirements across the organization. **
- **Analyze material, labor, overhead, inventory, and other manufacturing-related costs. **
- **Review cost allocations and cost variances for accuracy. **
- **Maintain accurate costing information within the company’s ERP system. **
- **Identify and recommend actions to reduce excess inventory and minimize obsolescence costs. **
- **Support inventory valuation and reconciliation activities. **
- **Identify cost drivers and opportunities to improve margins and operating efficiency. **
Additional Responsibilities
- **Document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. **
- **Support audits, process-improvement projects, and other financial initiatives. **
- **Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned. **
Skills and Qualifications
- **At least three years of accounting, financial analysis, or related experience is required. **
- **Accounting experience within a manufacturing environment is preferred. **
- **Experience processing, reviewing, and reconciling thousands of financial transactions. **
- **Hands-on experience with general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cost allocations, and account reconciliations. **
- **Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and GAAP. **
- **Experience using and maintaining complex financial models. **
- **Experience creating, implementing, and maintaining financial models is strongly preferred. **
- **In-depth ERP experience is required; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and SAP experience are strongly preferred. **
- **Experience with Power BI or a similar reporting and data-visualization platform is preferred. **
- **Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills. **
- **Ability to organize large data sets, analyze information, and clearly communicate results. **
- **High level of accuracy and attention to detail. **
- **Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. **
- CMA or CPA certification is preferred.
