AR Accountant

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Accountant to join a growing finance and accounting team in the Glen Allen, VA area. This role is ideal for someone with strong AR experience who enjoys transactional accounting, customer communication, process improvement, and opportunities for growth. The position is office-based and contract-to-hire.

Schedule: in office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Contract pay is $32 to $37 per hour

Permanent salary range is $70,000 to $80,000, depending on experience.

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.

Ideal Candidate will have 3 to 5 years of strong accounts receivable experience. A degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred, but equivalent hands-on experience will be considered. This role requires someone detail-oriented, comfortable with high-volume transactional work, and interested in supporting automation and process improvement initiatives.

Technology includes experience with ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and accounting software is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process, track, and record customer payments accurately and timely
  • Support accounts receivable transactions, reporting, and reconciliation activities
  • Maintain communication with customers, sales teams, and management regarding AR matters
  • Assist with invoice entry, general ledger data entry, and month-end reporting
  • Perform credit card and bank account reconciliations
  • Review sales orders and deliveries for profitability
  • Support process improvement projects, banking transitions, and automation efforts
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in financial reporting
  • Assist senior finance leaders with additional accounting tasks as needed

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of accounts receivable, accounting, receivables, or payables experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and accounting software skills
  • Ability to work with and analyze large amounts of data
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and support process improvement projects
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; equivalent experience considered
