Job Description

To maintain the accuracy of all AISD general ledger accounts and the resulting financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and TEA regulations. Perform specific duties as assigned by the Director of Accounting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Prepare and post daily bank deposits
  • Manage Activity Fund account codes.
  • Approve Activity Fund requisitions.
  • Assist with annual District audit process
  • Print and mail accounts payable check runs (back up)
  • Provide analytical and evaluative reports, as necessary
  • Provide schedules and information to the external auditors, as needed
  • Provide accurate and timely answers to other District personnel who have questions or problems regarding Activity Funds, campus or department budgets, or general accounting issues
  • Provide training to campus and department personnel on accounting processes.
  • Perform other projects as assigned by the Director

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Minimum certification/education: Bachelor's in business administration in accounting or equivalent
     

Experience:       

  • Prior Texas public schools district accounting experience preferred
  • Experience in working in computerized accounting systems
     

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Must have a basic understanding of fund accounting
  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer, with emphasis on Microsoft Office applications
