Position Summary

The Accountant I supports the accounting and finance functions by assisting with financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, financial reporting, cost analysis, and special projects. This role helps ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial information while maintaining compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
  • Assist with the preparation, assembly, copying, and distribution of monthly financial packages for management review.
  • Analyze costs, expenses, and financial trends to identify variances and support management decision-making.
  • Perform reconciliations of internal accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and maintain documentation related to financial reporting activities.
  • Assist with fixed asset accounting, including maintaining asset records and supporting depreciation schedules.
  • Maintain and update lease information within the Lease Ninja system to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
  • Support special accounting projects and department initiatives as assigned.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Entry-level accounting experience or internship experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, costs, and trends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with accounting software, Oracle is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move files or reports up to 15 pounds.
