Accountant II

An established communications company is seeking an Accountant II in Charlotte, NC. This hybrid role supports payroll accounting activities through journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and cross-functional partnership in a dynamic corporate environment.

About the Opportunity:

• Schedule: Monday to Friday (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)
• Hours: Standard business
• Setting: Hybrid

Responsibilities:

• Prepare retroactive payroll adjustment journal entries related to a system conversion
• Analyze on-cycle and off-cycle payroll variances and determine whether adjustments are needed
• Research, compile, and document payroll variance support, including root causes and impacts
• Prepare workpapers and reconciliations that meet management and audit standards
• Partner with payroll, tax, and technology teams to support accounting activities and resolve discrepancies

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of general ledger or accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUPs
• Experience preparing reconciliations, workpapers, and accounting journal entries
• Strong analytical, mathematical, research, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organization, and attention-to-detail skills

Desired Skills:

• Payroll accounting or payroll analysis experience
• Oracle HCM Fusion or PeopleSoft HRMS experience
• CPA
