Job Title: Accountant III
Location: Hollywood, CA - 90028 (Onsite)
Contract: 6 Months (Extension Possible)
Pay Range: $40/hr. - $43.90/hr.

About the Role:
The Client Studios Controllership team is seeking a sharp, self-directed Senior Accountant to join us on a temporary basis during a pivotal period of transformation.

This is a hands-on position built for someone who lives in the details: a strong analytical thinker who is exceptional at preparing and booking journal entries, comfortable investigating and resolving discrepancies, and motivated to take initiative rather than wait for direction. You will partner with Controllership and FP&A colleagues across Client divisions, and your work will directly support the accuracy and integrity of our consolidated financial statements.

Key Responsibilities:
Journal Entry Preparation & Posting:

Own the accurate, timely preparation and upload of journal entries in Oracle throughout the close cycle, ensuring every entry is correctly coded to the appropriate account and code-block elements. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Network journal entries: Support the monthly close by preparing and posting entries that affect Network Revenue, ensuring proper revenue recognition, plus ad hoc entries as needed.
  • Participation statement journals: Prepare and post entries for periodic participation statements across a range of titles.
  • Month-end journals: Prepare and upload Studio and Kapital entries in Oracle.

Reconciliations & Analysis:
  • Account reconciliations: Perform detailed account reconciliations, proactively identifying, researching, and resolving variances.

Cash Receipts & Accounts Receivable:
  • Support cash receipts and AR functions - managing the inflow of customer cash, identifying and applying payments in TREC (Billing System) aProductst open invoices, generating AR aging reports, and confirming that cash receipts are booked correctly to the proper GL account.

Close Support & Reporting:
  • Critical Review Checklist: Assist the Studio team in preparing the quarterly Critical Review deliverable for Internal Audit by organizing folders and journals and completing select tasks.
  • Close calendar: Help prepare the Divisional Month-End Close Calendar.
  • Daily reporting: Distribute daily P&L / balance sheet reports to the Studios Controllership and FP&A teams.
  • Delivery memos: Review the list of shows forecasted and scheduled to deliver each month, follow up with the post-production team to confirm deliveries, verify the accuracy of each memo, and file memos to the correct shared-drive folder for the month they delivered.

What You ll Bring:
Journal entry expertise:
Demonstrated mastery of preparing, reviewing, and posting accurate journal entries with correct account coding; comfortable handling high volumes during close without sacrificing precision.
Strong analytical skills: A natural problem-solver who digs into the numbers - investigating discrepancies, reconciling complex balances, and spotting anomalies before they become issues.
Initiative and ownership: A self-starter who anticipates what the team needs, takes the lead on time-intensive tasks, and follows through with minimal supervision.
Technical accounting foundation: Solid understanding of GAAP, the month-end and quarter-end close process, and general ledger fundamentals.
Systems and tools: Proficiency with Oracle Fusion (or a comparable ERP) and advanced Excel; ability to learn new systems quickly.
Detail and organization: Highly organized, deadline-driven, and meticulous about accuracy and documentation.
Collaboration: Clear communicator who works effectively with cross-functional partners across divisions.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward it is a plus.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on month-end close ownership.
  • Experience with Journal entries.
  • Experience with reconciliations.
  • Advanced excel knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Media, entertainment, or studio industry experience, and familiarity with participation accounting or revenue recognition.
  • Oracle fusion experience nice to have.
