Description

Job SummaryTalentWise LLC is building a pipeline of senior-level accounting professionals to support anticipated government contract awards with Arlington County, VA.

The Accountant IV serves as a senior financial expert responsible for overseeing complex accounting operations, cash management, financial reporting, and policy implementation. This role provides strategic financial guidance, ensures compliance with governmental regulations, and leads critical processes such as month-end close, audits, and financial reporting.

The position operates with a high level of independence and plays a key role in advising leadership, improving financial processes, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial systems across programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic financial guidance to leadership on accounting policies, budget impacts, and regulatory requirements 
  • Oversee cash management and investment activities, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and policies 
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliation and financial reporting 
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial transactions for accuracy and completeness 
  • Direct and support the preparation of financial statements, reports, and audit documentation 
  • Lead annual audit activities and coordinate with external auditors 
  • Monitor financial activity, identify trends or discrepancies, and implement corrective actions 
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements 
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to resolve complex financial issues 
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements 
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and oversight to accounting staff 
  • Support budget analysis, capital program oversight, and special financial projects 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field 
  • 5–7+ years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience, including leadership or senior-level responsibilities 
  • Strong knowledge of governmental accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance 
  • Experience with financial systems, general ledger management, and audit processes 
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data and advise leadership 
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills 
  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred
