Accountant

Amicalola EMC has an immediate opening for the following position: Accountant. This position will aid the Manager of Accounting and staff in keeping a complete and systematic set of accounting records for the Co-op as well as preparing monthly and yearly financial reports.

DUTIES

• Records the proper accounting entries and reconciles accounts.
• Analyzes and prepares explanations as requested of accounting records.
• Cross trains with Accounting Department Staff to provide back up as needed.
• Completes formal training and stays familiar with the uniform system of accounts as prescribed by RUS.
• Posts approved entries to subsidiary ledgers, journals, and the general ledger.
• Assists and aids with inventories and reconciles G/L, stock ledger, and inventory count.
• Other duties or projects as required.

EDUCATION

Bachelors Degree in Accounting required.

CPA Certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Prior experience of at least 3 years in accounting.

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, written and oral communication skills are essential.
• Must have the ability to work independently, manage time, and possess personal initiative.
• Must maintain a valid driver's license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work. Occasional walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying materials, equipment and office supplies <20 lbs. Majority of work will be performed indoors. Position will be onsite, M-F.
