SUMMARY
The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, tracking income and expenses, developing financial reports, and ensuring adherence to accounting principles. This role supports the finance department with day-to-day accounting tasks, monthly reconciliations, financial reporting and forecasting, accounts payable processing, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements.
BASIC FUNCTIONS AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Maintains accurate accounting records of finances, ensuring proper tracking of income and expenses.
· Records transactions following generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
· Assists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial documents, including management reports.
· Helps ensure compliance with the annual budgetary guidelines set by management and the Board of Directors.
· Supports accounts payable processes, including invoicing, tracking outstanding payments, and following up on overdue accounts to support cash flow efficiencies.
· Reconciles general ledger accounts and assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
· Assists with preparing audit schedules and reports for internal and external audits.
· Assists with financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
· Handles financial data entry, including expenses and revenue tracking for specific programs or departments.
· Coordinates with other departments to collect necessary financial information and support financial planning and budgeting processes.
· Reviews expense reports and ensure compliance with internal policies.
· Provides additional support to the Finance team as needed, including helping with grants and donations processing, preparing for audits, and assisting with financial year-end and month-end closing tasks.
· Facilitates continuous processing improvement reviews across various disciplines of the Finance team, including Accounting, Accounts Payable, Representative Payee, etc.
· Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL EXPECTATIONS
This position requires extended periods of sitting with some periods of walking and standing. It may also
require bending, kneeling, and/or stooping and climbing stairs. An individual in this position may need to drive a vehicle to resources in the community. There may be extended periods of using a computer and/or calculator.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related Business field (or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience).
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
· Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
· Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
· Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changes in financial processes and systems.
· Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
· Must be willing to receive a seasonal flu vaccination.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
· Experience using Sage Intacct.
· Experience using Therap.
· Work Incentive Practitioner Certification (WIP-C).
