    Job Summary:

    Position Title: Accountant
    Location: Orange County, CA
    Duration: 6 months
    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours a week

    Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

    Has Technical and Professional Expertise: Has the technical skills, product knowledge and professional skills to do the job.
    • Maintains accounting records to assure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and other special requirements.
    • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
    • Assists in maintaining the general ledger and various subsidiary ledgers.
    • Grant accounting including the preparation of the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA).
    • Accounting for Capital Projects including accruals.
    • Accounting for business type activities.
    • Accounting and financial reporting for leases.
    • Prepares various federal and state agency reports.
    • Ensures the maintenance of fixed asset records and prepares required reports.
    • Contributes to the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
    • Assists in monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.

    Solves Problems & Analyzes Issues: Has and applies problem analysis and problem-solving skills on a technical and interpersonal level.
    • Determines validity and allocability of charges to various accounts and the adequacy of reserve amounts.
    • Reviews and analyzes invoices related to capital expenses to determine compliance with GAAP for in terms of capital asset accounting.
    • Analyzes transactions and prepares periodic reports of activity; computes mathematical and statistical data for various financial reports.

    • Maintains fixed asset ledgers and performs monthly reconciliation with general ledger.
    • Contributes to the development and maintenance of accounting procedures.
    • Prepares required schedules and assists independent auditors during the annual audit.

    To be considered for this position, you should have:

    Qualification:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field with a minimum of three years of professional experience in accounting.

    • Ability to understand verbal communication and to respond effectively.
