    Description

    West Sound Workforce is supporting a local nonprofit utility district in sourcing an Accountant to provide accounting and financial support from their Port Hadlock offices. This organization is committed to delivering safe, reliable service and outstanding value to the community through a solutions-oriented and accountable approach.

    Reporting to the Finance Director, this role supports the financial operations of the utility district through accurate accounting practices, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. This role requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to manage financial information with accuracy and integrity while supporting the organization’s operational and strategic goals.

    Shift information:
    • Full time, Monday – Friday
    • Onsite
    What you will do:
    • Support annual budgeting activities by preparing financial information, maintaining budget and actual ledgers, researching discrepancies, and collaborating with leadership
    • Conduct financial research and analysis, including reviewing revenue and expenses to support business planning and economic modeling
    • Maintain work order documentation, ensuring required information is accurately collected, tracked, and distributed according to established processes
    • Review work orders for completeness and compliance with closing requirements before processing final completion in NISC software
    • Provide accurate financial and administrative support to assist with accounting operations, reporting, and organizational priorities
    What we are looking for:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
    • Four or more years of accounting experience with increasing responsibility preferred; experience within a public utility or regulated industry is highly desirable
    • Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting practices, and compliance requirements, with experience supporting work order management, grants, or similar financial processes preferred
    • Proficiency with financial systems and Microsoft Office applications, including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing tools
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research discrepancies, interpret financial information, and apply sound accounting practices
    • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail
