Accountant - Research Institute Accounting

 

 

 

Manages financial records, prepares and analyzes financial statements, and ensures compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

 

 

Essential Functions:

• Performs daily/weekly system processes related to payroll. Proactively monitors and resolves payroll discrepancies and prepares payroll transfers as needed.
• Reviews and processes Payroll Costing Allocations and Adjustments in accounting system. Ensures accuracy and compliance.
• Assists with the accurate and timely closeout of awards.
• Assures compliance with all federal, state and internal regulatory restrictions on payroll.
• Uses technical knowledge of sponsored research regulations and guidelines and attention to detail to ensure financial transactions do not result in audit disallowances.
• Works closely with members of Research Accounting department, Sponsored Projects department and internal/external auditors on issues related to responsibilities.

Education Requirement:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field, required.

Experience:

• One year of accounting experience, required.
• Grant accounting experience, preferred.
