LEAP Academy University Charter School is seeking a Accountant to provide accounting support for the School Business Administrator and Business Office Services essential to the preparation, administration, supervision and control of the district financial operations.

Essential Functions (Under the direction and authority of the SBA)

• Keeping current and accurate account of all financial transactions and reconciliation with the school treasurer.
• Proficient in all budgetary and payroll operations programmed into the equipment, i.e., encumbrances, cash disbursements, reconstruction of appropriation line item cards, cash receipts, appropriation account and control cards, and general ledger record
• Verification of monthly food service transactions and records
• Bid and Quotation distribution and receipt
• Preparation and analysis of annual property, liability insurance renewal
• Assist in school budget preparation
• Student accident claims and follow-up activities
• Follow up on all insurance claims, unemployment claims and worker's compensation claims
• Input and reconcile staff absences with payroll
• Assists with the preparation of accounts and records for the annual district audit

Performance Responsibilities:

• Support all phases of the budget throughout the year; analyze budget variances, prepare budget reports as requested by the School Business Administrator
• Keep accurate and detailed accounts of all financial transactions as prescribed by statute, administrative code and Board policy
• Prepare and maintain monthly district financial reports
• Provide general oversite of purchases, care and delivery of school supplies and equipment approved for use in the schools
• Prepare financial reports for all governmental agencies including the reporting for federal and state funding
• Manage special revenue funds (grants) and prepare payment request applications through EWEG
• Responsible for all out of district tuitions received/paid and maintenance of related accounts/ledgers
• Prepare/supervise reconciliation of bank accounts
• Prepare records for annual audit and participates in the audits of the district's accounts
• Maintain districts fixed assets listings and facilitate annual appraisal reporting
• Demonstrated experience in the use of Excel spreadsheets, Word Processing and Database software
• Prefer two (2) years of experience in school district business office and a minimum of two (2) years post-secondary training in business/administrative office operations. Other relevant business experience can be considered in lieu of formal experience
• Ability to work independently or in groups
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Notary Public preferred
• Perform other duties within the scope of the position as may be assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance
• Related experience in Governmental Accounting
• School auditing preferred

Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month contracted position. Salary, hours and work year to be established by the Board in consultation with COO/ Lead Person or School Business Administrator.
