As our Senior Accountant, for ENGIE Energy Marketing North America, you will be responsible for preparing the accounting entries necessary for monthly financial close including the mark to market of various energy commodities. You will be reporting to the Accounting Director.ResponsibilitiesPrepare balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies between the energy trading risk system and the general ledgerSupport trade settlement activities through sub-ledger and cash reconciliationsPrepare intercompany billings and monitor intercompany receivables and payablesPrepare monthly accruals of settled energy transactions for the activity of affiliate companiesAccurately prepare the monthly mark-to-market accounting and physical gas storage entries and work with the Trade Settlements team and commercial groups to resolve any variances between the risk system and general ledgerAssist with populating the consolidation system, including the preparation of monthly consolidated financial reporting packagesReview and analyze balance sheet accounts and prepare and maintain account reconciliationsReconcile gas storage balances to the pipeline statementsReconcile and process settlement activity for multiple commodities, including adjustments to AR/AP sub ledgers as required by the Trade Settlements teamReconcile and record prior period adjustmentsEnsure cash activity is accurately recorded so counterparty balances are properly reflectedCompare estimates to actuals and analyze and explain variancesPrepare monthly sales by state monthly report for the Tax DepartmentAssist with the coordination of external and internal audits and work with other team members to ensure audit requests are completed in a timely manner; and assist with special projects as neededMaintain controls and documentation evidencing performance of established controlsDevelop processes and drive continuous improvement, coordinating requirements across the organizationCross train with other team members and act as a back-up, as neededCarry out other duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting5 years relevant accounting industry experience; with at least 3 years in wholesale energy commodity market experienceYou possess a CPA or have the desire to become certified or in progress towards certificationYou are knowledge in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)This role is eligible for our hybrid work policyMust be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policiesYou can handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracyKnowledge of various commodity types and their settlement proceduresYou possess Accounting and Financial reporting skills, complemented by expertise in Microsoft Excel and a solid proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and SAPPrevious experience using energy trading risk management systemsYou possess analytical and problem-solving skills, essential for effective financial analysis and decision-makingYou have excellent communications skills, both verbal and writtenCompensationSalary Range: $90,405 to $120,540 USD annuallyThis represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws.
