Nathan Wechsler is hiring an Accountant to join our team in our Concord office. This role will report to senior accounting staff and will support a variety of assurance and tax engagements, contributing to client deliverables and firm objectives. The position involves fieldwork, tax preparation, and financial statement analysis, providing opportunities to apply accounting knowledge and develop professional skills.ResponsibilitiesPerforming audit and accounting procedures, including compliance testing, cash, accounts receivable, inventories, fixed assets, accounts payable, and accruals, with appropriate workpapersPreparing tax returns and conducting basic tax research using relevant software applicationsAssisting in the preparation of financial statements, applying basic GAAP principlesMaintaining accurate records of time and expenses for proper client billingEstablishing and maintaining positive client relationshipsComplying with Continuing Professional Education (CPE) requirements of the AICPA, State Board of Accountancy, Governmental Accounting Standards, and the FirmAttending seminars or trade group events as requestedPerforming special projects or other duties as neededRequirementsBachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, or comparable work experienceProven customer service skills and excellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong time management and organizational skills to prioritize and meet deadlinesWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat productsAptitude to learn and effectively use multiple software applicationsAbility to maintain confidentiality of Firm and client informationDifferentiatorsBasic knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and tax compliance principles, with an ability to apply these to client situationsFamiliarity with tax software and research methods, including understanding how numbers flow in and between tax formsAwareness of audit processes and a developing sense of audit skepticismExperience making constructive suggestions to improve client internal controls and accounting proceduresGeneral understanding of transactional flow and key transition cycles in accountingWork LocationPrimarily onsite in our Concord, NH office, with travel to client sites as needed.CompensationFull-time position, with expectation of 55 hours per week during peak seasons (January 15 to April 15) and 45 hours through the rest of the yearStarting salary of $70,000 annuallyFirm pays 85% of healthcare premiumsComp time program: additional compensation or PTO for hours worked above 55 during peak seasons and 45 outside of peak seasons3 weeks of PTO, 7-10 paid holidays, and the week of July 4th offFridays off in June and July; office closes at noon on Fridays in May and August-DecemberCPA exam supportOptional flexible work arrangementsEqual Opportunity EmployerWe are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
