C&S has an immediate opening for a full-time, direct hire Tax Accountant in Jefferson City.
Salary/hours for Tax Accountant: $50,000-$80,000/yr. (based on experience) + benefit package; Monday-Friday (full-time + additional hours may be required during tax season)
Responsibilities:
- Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts and nonprofits
- Review client financial records and ensure accurate tax reporting
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
- Perform bookkeeping and account reconciliations
- Assist clients with tax planning and compliance matters
- Research tax issues and stay current on tax law changes
- Communicate with clients to gather information and answer questions
- Support payroll tax reporting and sales tax filings as needed
- Work closely with staff to meet deadlines and client needs
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- CPA, CPA candidate, EA, or equivalent experience preferred
- Experience working in a CPA firm or public accounting environment
- Knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
- Experience preparing individual and business tax returns
- Knowledge of federal and state tax regulations
- Understanding of accounting principles and financial statements
- Proficiency with tax preparation and accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and organizational, time management and customer relations skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
