Job Summary The Accountant I is responsible for performing hands-on accounting activities with a primary focus on preparing journal entries and completing account reconciliations. This role supports the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and assists with month-end close audits and financial reporting. The position requires strong attention to detail solid organizational skills and the ability to work within established accounting procedures.Essential Job FunctionsPerform monthly account reconciliations exercise judgment to identify research and resolve reconciling itemsIndependently prepare and post journal entries ensuring accuracy proper classification and adequate supporting documentationEvaluate selected transactions for accuracy and proper account codingAssist with month-end and year-end close processesResponsible for monthly bank account reconciliations addressing inquiries from banksSupport year-end financial statement audit and internal review requests by preparing reconciliations and supporting schedulesCollaborate with Accounts Payable Payroll and other departments to resolve accounting issuesAssist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as neededPerforms other related duties as assignedRequiredQualificationsValid Drivers license in state of residency with acceptable driving recordMust be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and submit to the company random drug and alcohol programUnderstanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principlesProficiency in basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications specifically Excel 10 key and Google WorkspacePreferred QualificationsBachelors degree in accounting0-2 years of accounting experiencePrior experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations a plusExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsPhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential function of this job.
