G&C Equipment Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting & Payroll Specialist to support the company's accounting, payroll, billing, and accounts receivable functions. This position plays an important role in ensuring the timely processing of union payroll, customer invoicing, accounts receivable collections, and compliance with union reporting requirements
The successful candidate will possess strong accounting skills, excellent organizational abilities, and the capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate with union trust funds, union halls, customers, and internal project personnel regarding the hiring and onboarding of union employees
Review employment documentation and ensure all required hiring paperwork is completed accurately and submitted on time
Collect, review, and reconcile employee timecards and supervisor-approved timesheets for weekly payroll processing
Process weekly payroll utilizing Paychex, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable wage agreements
Prepare and submit Certified Payroll Reports in accordance with prevailing wage and public works requirements
Prepare customer invoices for payroll and labor services and assist with project billing activities
Assist with customer billing, contract invoicing, and reconciliation of project-related charges
Prepare monthly customer statements, monitor accounts receivable aging, and follow up on outstanding balances to support timely collections
Process monthly union benefit contributions, union dues, and related payroll reporting
Maintain payroll, accounting, and employee records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with company policies
Provide general accounting and administrative support to the Accounting Department and perform additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 3 years of accounting, payroll, or bookkeeping experience
Experience processing payroll for construction or union employees preferred
Working knowledge of QuickBooks
Experience with Paychex or similar payroll systems preferred
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications
Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and consistently meet deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Construction accounting experience
Experience with certified payroll reporting
Knowledge of union payroll and fringe benefit reporting
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
