Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Assistant will be involved in maintaining financial records for multiple entities, trusts and individuals. S/he will utilize accounting and reporting programs to process business transactions and assist in reporting both internally and externally.ResponsibilitiesRecord all transactional activity in the financial records for multiple entities, trusts and individuals, including cash receipts and payments/disbursements of cash and securities.Manage the accounts payable processing for all entities, trust and individuals. Review payments for proper approval and documentation prior to processing, ensure remittance information is correct, track and follow up on outstanding invoices and balances due.Maintain proper accounting records and support for cash accounts, fixed assets, accruals, etc.Assist in the proper recording of investment activity and valuations.Prepare standard financial reports quarterly and assist in overall financial analysis.Assist in compilation and filing of 1099s and other tax reporting as necessary.Ensure the receipt and proper naming and filing of all relevant documentation, including statements, receipts, valuations, and tax documents.Prepare periodic investment and financial reporting and review for reasonableness.Maintain records of intercompany balances and ensure amounts are settled periodically.Participate in relevant projects on an ad hoc/as needed basis.QualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting or finance ORSignificant (5+) years of bookkeeping, accounting and accounts payable experience.Required SkillsCompetency in Microsoft Office, advanced Microsoft Excel skills a plus.Experience with accounting software including Sage Intacct a plus.Preferred SkillsDetail oriented and organized. Ability to multi-task as well as shift focus quickly.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to work effectively with people of all levels across multiple departments.Team player, no ego.
