Accounting Assistant

A small manufacturing and distribution company that provides products to the hospitality and confection industries is looking for an experienced accounting assistant to assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable and other financial tasks.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who is eager to learn and grow in the field of accounting. The Accounting Assistant will support various accounting tasks and assist in maintaining accurate financial records for the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and customer invoicing.
• Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions.
• Prepare journal entries and assist in month-end close procedures.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and analysis.
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation.
• Provide support for payroll processing and related tasks.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
• Perform ad hoc tasks and projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager or Ownership.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred) OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous experience in an accounting or finance role is required. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to follow directions.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable learning and navigating enterprise level software.
