ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT
Hire Up is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant for a client in the Tulare County area. This senior-level position works under the direction of the Controller and performs technical and complex accounting duties, including maintaining accounting systems, preparing financial reports, and supporting daily fiscal operations.

Location: Visalia/Tulare
Pay Rate: $36.84 per hour
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in the operation of the general accounting department.
- Process and maintain accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, purchasing, inventory, and program accounting functions.
- Analyze receipts and disbursements and reconcile bank statements and security deposits.
- Prepare financial reports, operating statements, balance sheets, and budget reports.
- Maintain general and special ledgers and ensure proper classification of income and expenditures.
- Train staff on accounting procedures and assist with implementing policies and procedures.
- Assist with employee benefit enrollments and new hire orientations.
- Coordinate accounting functions with purchasing and data processing departments.
- May provide backup payroll support as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field with at least 15 semester hours in accounting preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible accounting and/or auditing experience.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Valid California Drivers License required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and automated accounting systems.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Ability to interpret state and federal regulations and analyze financial data.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to operate office equipment and computers for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to communicate clearly and maintain professional interactions with staff and the public.
- Regular office attendance required.
