Title of Job: Accounting Assistant
Status: Non-exempt
Reports To: Accounting Manager
Summary of Position: The Accounting Assistant will support the department assisting where needed with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and functions related to job costing. This position requires heavy use of Excel to analyze financials and create reports as needed.
Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions: (Other duties may be assigned)
- Customer invoicing and collections
- Vendor Invoice coding and payment
- Purchase Orders
- Job Cost Reports
- Communicate with managers regarding purchasing and job P&Ls
- Assist with other accounting tasks as needed
- File and archives documents
- Updating ERP and recommending journal entries as needed based on analysis
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience/Qualifications:
- Possess a strong work ethic
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures
- Understanding of job costing and project accounting
- Commitment to a work schedule
- Experience with Office suite (advanced experience with Excel is a must!)
- Self-starter, highly organized, and able to work well with individuals at all levels
- Strong written, oral, and visual communication skills
- Extremely organized with strong attention to detail
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Work well under tight deadlines
- Capable of multitasking
