Accounting Assistant

Pay: $24–$26/hour

Location: East Greenbush, NY (not accessible by bus line)

Hours: Part-time to start (roughly 20 hours/week), with real potential to grow into full-time

If you're looking to break into accounting, or already have a bit of experience and want somewhere steady to grow it, this could be a good landing spot. It's part-time now, but the door to full-time and permanent could be wide open for the right person.

What You'd Actually Be Doing

• Keeping vendor invoices moving and accounts payable paid on time
• Cutting customer invoices and keeping accounts receivable records straight
• Applying payments and reconciling cash as it comes in
• Chasing down outstanding balances and helping with collections
• Handling day-to-day cash tasks like deposits and reconciliations
• Keeping accounting files and documentation clean and audit-ready
• Cutting routine journal entries and pitching in on account reconciliations
• Pulling together schedules and documents to help close the books each month
• Digging into discrepancies on invoices, payments, or accounts and sorting them out
• Pulling documentation together when audits come around
• Keeping vendor and customer records current in the financial system
• Helping out with the annual physical inventory
• Picking up new tools and processes as the team improves how things run
• Jumping in on other finance projects as needed

What You Bring

• 0–2 years in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or something adjacent
• An associate's degree in accounting, finance, business, or similar (a bachelor's is a plus)
• Comfort in Outlook, Word, and Excel
• A sharp eye for detail and solid organizational instincts
• The ability to juggle a few things at once and still hit deadlines
• Clear, confident written and verbal communication
• A customer-first mindset and the ability to work well with people inside and outside the company
• Genuine curiosity and a willingness to grow in finance

Nice-to-Haves

• Hands-on time with AP/AR processes
• Some exposure to accounting software or an ERP system
• Experience in a manufacturing setting
• Background helping with cash application or collections
