Accounting Associate

La Casa Family Health Center is currently seeking a full-time Accounting Associate to join our Accounting Department in Portales. This is an excellent entry-level professional opportunity for a detail-oriented individual looking to grow their accounting career in a mission-driven healthcare environment.

The Accounting Associate supports the organization's financial operations by assisting with general ledger activities, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), internal controls, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Prepare and enter journal entries and maintain the general ledger
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes
• Assist with tracking and reporting of grants and federal funding
• Maintain financial documentation in compliance with FQHC and regulatory standards (e.g., UDS reporting support)
• Help prepare audit schedules and provide support during external audits
• Review and process employee expense reports
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and organizational policies
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned

The ideal candidate is highly organized, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and possesses excellent time management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel-including formulas, pivot tables, reconciliations, and financial analysis is required.

Qualifications include:

• Associate's degree in Accounting or Business Administration
• Previous accounting experience required
