Summary/Objective
The Accounting Clerk works closely with the Controller in assisting and performing a variety of accounting functions in accordance with standard procedures in one or more of the following areas: day-to-day accounting, general ledger posting, inventory, cost allocation, purchasing of equipment and supplies, assisting in IT, audit, accounts payable, reporting, and other related financial activities.
Essential Functions
Under direct supervision, the position performs accounting duties, including:
Lead:
· Reconcile cash accounts.
· Document and/or update job functions in written format.
· Prepare process and maintaining accounts payable.
· Prepare financial reports for funders.
· Maintain inventory lists for all Agency assets.
· Summarize raw data for cost allocation plan.
· Reconcile bank accounts.
· Post to general ledger
· Conducts cross-checks for quarterly reports.
· Review semimonthly timesheets for accuracy.
· Maintain timesheet data collection.
· Other business transactions pertinent to the operation of a nonprofit organization.
· Maintain staff benefit records.
· Safeguards the Agency against waste, fraud, and abuse.
· Maintain set of financial records for ECIOARC.
Advocate:
· Provide appropriate data necessary for policy development and decision making.
Innovate:
· Develop spreadsheet applications and other reporting forms.
Collaborate:
· Contacts other outside agencies to resolve problems, as directed.
· Assists in preparation of annual report.
· Compiles segments of monthly closings include revenue recognition and journal entry preparation and entry.

The East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging is a non-profit organization, founded in 1972, and authorized under the federal Older Americans Act and the Illinois Act on Aging to plan and administer services for older adults, persons with disabilities, caregivers, and grandparents.
Our mission is to empower older adults, persons with disabilities, caregivers, and grandparents to age strong and live long – to live in their homes with dignity and safety, manage chronic health conditions, participate in community-based programs, prevent unnecessary institutionalization, and make informed decisions.
ECIAAA plans, coordinates, and advocates for the development of a comprehensive service delivery system for an estimated 184,000 persons 60 years of age and older, persons with disabilities, caregivers, grandparents and other relatives raising children in communities throughout the 16 counties of east central Illinois.
There are 622 Area Agencies on Aging in the United States, authorized by the federal Older Americans Act. ECIAAA is one of thirteen Area Agencies on Aging authorized by the Illinois Act on Aging and designated by the Illinois Department on Aging. ECIAAA serves Planning and Service Area 5.
ECIAAA is governed by a Corporate Board comprising up to 20 members representing 16 counties. The Corporate Board establishes policies and priorities and makes decisions about programs and funding.
ECIAAA is advised by an Advisory Council comprising up to 32 members, with a majority of members 60 years of age and older. The Advisory Council informs the Area Agency on Aging about the needs and preferences of older persons, persons with disabilities, caregivers, and grandparents, and provides advice on the Area Plan and senior services.
ECIAAA plans, coordinates, and advocates for the development of opportunities and services to achieve outcomes which promote the health, strength, independence, dignity, and autonomy of older persons and persons with disabilities, and support families caring for older persons, and grandparents and other relatives raising children.
